
Mission.
It's not every day your small town announces they've been developing plans to demolish the mall next door to make way for new development, including new retail opportunities, community hubs, arts & culture spaces, a new library, public plazas, parks, a hotel and various residential offerings.

When it was announced that the plan included buildings up to 50 storeys; and more than just a few of them, I couldn't get the thought out of my head. Being a tall building enthusiast, I needed to see the impact for myself.
Overview.
Through this exercise I discovered the world of Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments and Draft Plan of Subdivision. I attended many online public meetings, gathered public application documents and explored online forums that shared the City's plans to intensify the Kingston Road corridor to embrace the idea of a 21st century type urban center (TOD); Canadian style.
